Rules To Play Ludo:

  • The players can start the Dice game by alternate turns in a clockwise direction.
  • You must roll a 6 to enter a coin or token into active play from his staging area.
  • If you do not roll a 6, the turn passes to the next player in a clockwise direction
  • When the player has one or more tokens in play then selects a token and moves it forward along the track the number of squares indicated by the die roll.
  • If your rolls a 6  may choose to advance a token already in play, or alternatively.
  • The rolling of a Six in dice earns the player an additional ("bonus") roll in that move turn. If the player gets 6 again, the player earns an additional bonus roll.
  • If the player gets 6  the third roll, the player may not move a token and the move turn immediately passes to the next player.
  • You must have always moved a token according to the die value rolled, and if no move possible then you can pass their turn to the next player.
  • You may not end his move on a square that already occupies.
  • If token advance finishes on a square occupied by an opponent's token then the opponent token is returned to its owner's yard.
  • It is noticed that the returned token may only be re-entered into play when the player again rolls a 6.
  • Home column square of the player is always safe, however, since no opponent may enter them.
  • This amazing game played in the Indian subcontinent features a safe square in each quadrant, normally the fourth square from the top in the rightmost column.

Variations

  • To get a board game started soon, some house rules allow to start the play on any roll, on a 1 or a 6, or allow multiple tries to roll a 6.
  • If your dice lands on another of their own pieces, then it will double and form a "block" which cannot be passed by any opponent's pieces. Some variations it may only be passed by rolling a 6 or 1.
  • It is also interesting some house rule that doubled pieces may move half the number if an even number is thrown e.g. move 2 spaces if a 4 is thrown.
  • A doubled piece player may capture another doubled piece (like in Coppit).
  • In every "home column," a  board may have only four spaces. All are must finish in these spaces for the player to have finished the game
  • To finish the ludo game soon, extra turns or you can bonus moves can be awarded capturing a piece or getting a piece home; these may grant passage past a block.
  • Some other countries like Denmark the board has eight spaces marked with a globe and eight with a star.
  • The globes are safe spaces where the player piece cannot be captured. The player who has not yet entered all pieces can always enter a piece on a roll of six.
